Ideal Normal Blood Pressure Range

Ideal Normal Blood Pressure Range

It is the general View of the medical profession in China, that hypertension is present when the systolic pressure has been found by measurement at least for three times to exceed or to equal 140 mmHg and/or the diastolic pressure has been found to exceed or to equal 90 mmHg, the existence of the two facts or of either of the two facts being what is needed for the diagnosis that the person concerned has high blood pressure. The great majority of patients of hypertension have what is called "essential"hypertension, for which, according to Western medicine, no cause can be found. In China, the ideal blood pressure recommended by authorities is 120/80 mmHg. People who have essential hypertension are advised to make efforts to have their blood pressure lowered to below 140/90 mmHg. If such people are afflicted at the same time with diabetes mellitus or some renal disease they ought to reduce their blood pressure to below 130/80 mmHg. Young people who have unfortunately got hypertension must also try to lower their blood pressure by all means to below this level.

Hypertension is known for causing the hardening of the arteries and may get worst if is not addressed.

You can monitor your pressure by using a sphygmomanometer and knowing the different ranges in the reading. In the list below note the levels of they diastolic reading - the lower number. Take a close look at how both the systolic (upper number) and the diastolic (lower number) increases as the level of hypertension stages increases. Again, it is important to know how to lower diastolic blood pressure in order to minimize the risk of hypertension.

* Normal - 119/79 and below
* Pre-Hypertension - 120-139/80-89
* First stage hypertension - 140-159/90-99
* Second stage hypertension -: 160/100 and above

A normal blood pressure reading almost always falls within the 120 to 130 beats per minute range. An even better normal blood pressure reading is anything under 120 and less than 80, like 118/78, for example. This reading points to the normal blood pressure reading of a normal, active adult.

Children will display different blood pressure readings. A normal blood pressure reading for young children, those between 3 and 5 for example, are around 116/76. Something to remember is that children have normal blood pressures in ranges that are lower than adults. But even so, a child is at as much risk of developing high blood pressure as an adult if lacking proper diet and exercise.

A raised systolic blood pressure alone is not very serious, and treatment is considered unnecessary. An old man or woman is advised (not warned) to have his/her systolic pressure kept at below 150 mmHg if this is what is within his/her power to do. A raised diastolic pressure is much more dangerous, because a person's mean blood pressure is nearer the diastolic than the systolic level. Therefore, the word "hypertension"is used almost universally to refer to diastolic hypertension.

Remember that no one's blood pressure is always the same. Sometimes, readings showing a high blood pressure may result from stress, illness or even anger.
